Work Experience

At IGHS, we believe that work-related learning is a vital part of preparing students for adult life. It equips them with key skills that employers value, which enhances their prospects of gaining employment.

In addition, work-related learning helps students develop a more profound understanding of how businesses operate, as well as insights into finance, labour markets, and employer expectations. It also offers opportunities to build social and personal skills through enterprise activities, work-related projects, and work experience placements.

Work-related learning aims to assist our students in the following areas:

  • Identify, develop, and apply skills for enterprise and employability
  • Gain a clearer understanding of the world of work
  • Learn how businesses function
  • Increase awareness of employment opportunities
  • Connect their abilities, attributes, and achievements to their career goals
  • Understand different work environments and practices
  • Engage with real-world business challenges, empowering their learning
  • Raise their aspirations
  • Promote equality and challenge stereotypes, fostering opportunity for all
