Career of the week

Each week, students across all year groups explore various career options, including opportunities in green careers, as well as other key sectors such as digital & technology, health & social care, skilled trades & engineering, creative & media, business & finance, and travel & hospitality. They gain insights into required skills, training, and qualifications, as well as average salaries and labour market information for different professions.

Through the school careers programme, students engage with these themes to understand the diverse opportunities available to them. In green careers, they explore roles in sustainability, renewable energy, and conservation. Digital & technology careers introduce them to fields like cybersecurity, AI, and software development. Health & social care sessions highlight careers in medicine, mental health, and social work. Skilled trades & engineering discussions cover pathways in construction, automotive, and infrastructure roles. Creative & media careers inspire students to consider opportunities in film, design, and journalism, while Business & finance sessions offer explanations about law, marketing, and entrepreneurship. Finally, travel, hospitality, and retail careers introduce them to the dynamic world of tourism, event management, and customer service.

Tutor sessions then discuss these insights, prompting students to reflect on their aspirations. Tutors facilitate meaningful discussions by covering a broad range of career themes.

Below is an example of the “Career of the Week” video shared each week.
