Use of Displays to support learning

Classroom displays are purposeful, carefully curated, and directly linked to current learning. They are designed to support understanding and independence rather than decoration. Displays include clearly presented sentence starters, mnemonics, and writing frames, which pupils can refer to during lessons to support the construction of high-quality responses. These visual supports help make expectations explicit, reduce cognitive load, and reinforce key learning strategies.

By providing consistent access to these supports, classroom displays promote independence, confidence, and accuracy in pupils’ work. They are particularly beneficial for SEND and EAL learners, while supporting all pupils to engage successfully with learning tasks.
